Dukan And Ketogenic Diet: Briefly Introduction & Guide

Dukan And Ketogenic Diet

The Dukan diet is a high-protein, low-carb diet, while the ketogenic diet is a very low-carb, high-fat diet.

The Dukan diet has four phases, while the ketogenic diet only has one phase. In addition, the Dukan diet allows the consumption of legumes and some dairy products, while the ketogenic diet restricts the consumption of these foods.

Dukan diet:

The Dukan diet is a high protein, low carbohydrate diet that is divided into four phases: attack, cruise, consolidation and stabilization.

During the attack phase, mainly lean proteins such as meat, fish and seafood are consumed, as well as some permitted vegetables.

The cruise phase combines lean proteins with allowed vegetables, gradually adding some dairy and legumes.

The consolidation phase allows for a greater variety of foods, including fruits and bread, while the stabilization phase is a long-term maintenance phase in which all food groups are incorporated in a balanced way.

The Dukan diet focuses on reducing carbohydrate consumption and increasing protein consumption to promote weight loss.

ketogenic diet:

The ketogenic diet is a very low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet that is primarily used to treat diseases such as epilepsy.

The ketogenic diet induces the state of ketosis, in which the body burns fat instead of carbohydrates as its main source of energy.

This is achieved by a very low carbohydrate intake (less than 5% of total daily calories) and a high fat intake (about 75% of total daily calories).

In addition, the ketogenic diet also allows a moderate protein intake. This diet focuses on changing the body’s energy source and promoting weight loss.
